Description

A San Diego based Construction Company with operations throughout Southern California currently has openings for Full Time Payroll Clerk, for its San Diego, California Division to perform various tasks related to payroll and accounting.

  • This position is responsible for ensuring that employees of the organization are paid accurately and on time. Other duties include managing backend data relating to the hours worked by an employee matched with their pay periods and hourly wages, salaries, overtime, sick days and vacation days. 
    JOB DUTIES:

The duties for this position will include but not be limited to; 

  • Pays employees by calculating pay and deductions and issuing checks.
  • Maintains payroll information by collecting, calculating, and entering data into the payroll system, as well as retrieving data when necessary.
  • Perform all aspect of prevailing wage reporting to ensure company compliance.
  • Submit pre-job labor compliance documentation.
  • Submit weekly certified payroll reports/documents.
  • Updates payroll records by entering changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job title and department/division transfers.
  • Prepares reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages.
  • Communicates payroll deductions to retirement administrators for 401(k) plans and other pre-taxation savings plans.
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, or year-end calculations of bonuses and other salary-based compensation.
  • Resolves payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information and interacting with HR.
  • Provides payroll information by answering questions and requests.
  • Maintains payroll operations by following policies and procedures, and reporting needed changes.
  • Provide direct support to the Chief Financial Officer

SPECIAL SKILLS OR REQUIREMENTS:

Qualified candidates must possess the following special skills and or requirements to be considered for this position.

  • Must pass pre-employment drug screening.
  • Certified payroll experience required
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of team.
  • Ability to occasionally lift 30 lbs.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
  • Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
  • High School or GED
  • 5+ years experience with processing payroll.
  • Certified payroll experience required
  • Previous experience with Sage 300 CRE preferred
  • Proficient with MS Office Word and Excel.
  • Previous Union experience preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Outstanding organizational skills.
